An engineering professor is treating her husband, a loan officer, to dinner for finally giving in to her pleas to shave off the scraggly beard he grew on vacation. His favorite restaurant is a casual place where they both feel comfortable in slacks and cotton/polyester-blend golf shirts. But, as always, she wears the gold and pearl pendant he gave her the day her divorce decree was final. They're laughing over their menus because they know he always ends up diving into a giant plate of ribs but she won't be talked into anything more fattening than shrimp. Quiz: How many biblical prohibitions are they violating? Well, wives are supposed to be 'submissive' to their husbands (I Peter 3:1). And all women are forbidden to teach men (I Timothy 2:12), wear gold or pearls (I Timothy 2:9) or dress in clothing that 'pertains to a man' (Deuteronomy 22:5). Shellfish and pork are definitely out (Leviticus 11:7, 10) as are usury (Deuteronomy 23:19), shaving (Leviticus 19:27) and clothes of more than one fabric (Leviticus 19:19). And since the Bible rarely recognizes divorce, they're committing adultery, which carries the rather harsh penalty of death by stoning (Deuteronomy 22:22)._ So why are they having such a good time? Probably because they wouldn't think of worrying about rules that seem absurd, anachronistic or - at best - unrealistic. Yet this same modern-day couple could easily be among the millions of Americans who never hesitate to lean on the Bible to justify their own anti-gay attitudes. ~Deb Price, And Say Hi To Joyce

Hehe: I loved this quote: it kinda represents my struggle with the 'religiousity' of the Christian religion.

And this:
War. Rape. Murder. Poverty. Equal rights for gays. Guess which one the Southern Baptist Convention is protesting? ~The Value of Families

When I was in the military they gave me a medal for killing two men and a discharge for loving one. ~Epitaph of Leonard P. Matlovich, 1988

Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands? ~Ernest Gaines

People sometimes think I'm gay because I once played a gay in a movie. It's funny. Audiences don't think you're a murderer if you play a murderer, but they do think you're gay if you play a gay. ~Perry King

But one of the ones that hit me the most was:

Labels are for filing. Labels are for clothing. Labels are not for people. ~Martina Navratilova

Even I will confess that I tend to label people, which isn't right. Lately my goal has been to stop it!!

In my not so distant past: I did have issues with homosexuality: but that was mostly thanks to my parents (even though one turned out to be a "swinger" (nice way of putting it) anyways). Anyways after I moved out of home and had my "spiritual revolution" I realised that it was stupid of me to do so: after all I had experimented myself, so what right did I have to negate and demote others and my own personal experiences?? And then I met Chris and I realised that I enjoyed being around homosexuals: I found them far more open and kinder people then many Christians I had met.

Atm, song I am most into is a new one by Ludacris and Mary J Blige...I like because i guess it represents my own experiences: the number of times I nearly ran away frightens me. [ Lyrics found on http://www.metrolyrics.com ]

Yeah, and it go a little something *scratch* like this

[Mary J Blige]
Runaway Love(love, love, love, love) Runaway Love(love, love, love, love)
Runaway Love(loooove) Runaway Love(love
Runaway Love(ooooo) Runaway Love(ooooo)
Runaway Love(mmmmm) Runaway Love(runaway love)

[Ludacris]
Now little Lisa's only 9 years old
She's tryna figure out why the world is so cold
Why she's all alone and she never met her family
Mama's always gone and she never met her daddy
Part of her is missing and nobody will listen
Mama's on drugs gettin' high (or fucked) up in the kitchen
Bringin' home men any different hours of the night
Startin' with some laughs... usually ending in a fight
Sneakin' in her room when her mama's knocked out
Tryna have his way and little Lisa says 'ouch'
She tries to resist but then all he does is beat her
Tries to tell her mom but her mama don't believe her
Lisa's stuck up in the world on her own
Forced to think that Hell is a place called home
Nothin' else to do but get some clothes and pack
She says she's bout to run away and never come back

[Mary J Blige]
Runaway Love(runaway, runaway) Runaway Love(runaway love)
Runaway Love(loooove) Runaway Love(runaway love)
Runaway Love(aahahah) Runaway Love(runaway, runaway, runaway)
Runaway Love(loooove) Runaway Love(runaway love)

[Ludacris]
Little Nicole is only 10 years old
She's steady tryna figure out why the world is so cold
Why she's not pretty and nobody seems to like her
Alcoholic step-dad always wanna strike her
Yells and abuses leaves her with some bruises
Teachers ask questions she's makin' up excuses
Bleeding on the inside crying on the out
There's only one girl who really knows what she's about
Her name is little Stacey and they become friends
Promise that they'll always be tight till the end
Until one day little Stacey gets shot
A drive-by bullet went stray up on her block
Now Nicole's stuck up in the world on her own
Forced to think that Hell is a place called home
Nothin' else to do but get her clothes and pack
She says she's bout to run away and never come back

[Mary J Blige]
Runaway Love(runaway) Runaway Love(runaway love)
Runaway Love(runaway don't keep runnin) Runaway Love(oooooooh)
Runaway Love(ooooooooh) Runaway Love(runaway love)

Runaway Love(aahaahah) Runaway Love(runaway love)

[Ludacris]
Little Ericka is 11 years old
She's steady tryna figure out why the world is so cold
So she pops X to get rid of all the pain
Plus she's having sex with a boy who's sixteen
Emotions run deep and she thinks she's in love
So there's no protection he's using no glove
Never thinkin' bout the conceqences of her actions
Livin' for today and not tomorrow's satisfaction
The days go by and her belly gets big
The father bails out he ain't ready for a kid
Knowin' her mama would blow it all out of proportion
cause she lives poor so no money for abortion
Ericka's stuck up in the world on her own
Forced to think that Hell is a place called home
Nothin' else to do but get her clothes and pack
She says she's bout to run away and never come back

[Mary J Blige]
Runaway Love(runaway) Runaway Love(runaway love babe)
Runaway Love(don't keep runin girl) Runaway Love(aaaaahaah)
Runaway Love(runaway, runaway) Runaway Love(runaway, runaway)
Runaway Love(runnin, runin, runin,runin) Runaway Love(aaaaaaahhh runin)
Running(x3)
Runaway Love, Runaway love
Runaway Love, Runaway Love
Runaway Love, Runaway Love
Runaway Love, Runaway Love

Don't you keep on runnin away
Don't you keep on runnin away
i know how you feel
ive been there
i was runnin away too
I will run away with you
I will run away with you
Runnin runnin runnin away love

run away run away love
dont keep runin away
i'll run away with you
if you want me too
La Ahhahhhaha

[Ludacris]
Yeah, I can only imagine what you're going through, ladies
Sometimes I feel like running away myself
So do me a favor right now and close your eyes
And picture us running away together and
When we come back everything is gonna be OK

(whisper) Open your eyes.

If you ever have an opportunity to, either listen to it, or watch the film clip. It touched me deeply and hopefully it will touch you to...

Anyways, this will do me for today!!
